✨ Venice Travel Notes: Morning Views, Local Rituals & Where to Stay in the Floating City

Venice, Italy is one of the world’s most enchanting destinations—an architectural wonder, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a city best explored by getting lost in its maze of alleyways, bridges, and waterfront promenades. There are no cars, no noise of traffic—just the gentle sway of the canals, footsteps on stone pathways, and the soft hum of boats gliding across the water.

This is Italy, but also something entirely its own—a moment suspended between centuries.

🌅 A Quiet Morning in Venice

As I write this, I’m sitting on a small balcony overlooking a peaceful lagoon and a softly illuminated bridge. The early morning air is crisp, and the first locals are already out walking their dogs while a nearby food shop begins to open.

Across the water, the famous Venice fish market—glowing with its red canopy—comes to life. Fishmongers rinse the freshest seafood, artfully displayed on ice. The seagulls hover. The city is awake, but gently.

And I can’t help thinking that if I lived here, this would be a place I frequented weekly—fresh seafood, handcrafted breads, and endless inspiration for cooking meals that taste of ocean breezes.

🛶 Boats, Slow Mornings & True Venetian Rhythm

What I love most about Venice—in fact, all of Italy—is how naturally life unfolds.

Late dinners
evening walks
gelato between conversations

And mornings that begin slowly.

As a night owl, this rhythm feels instinctive. I may live literally across the world, but when I’m here, it feels familiar. It feels like home.

🏡 The Balcony Apartment I Stayed In

My temporary home here is tucked inside an airy four-story building with no elevator (a great balance to all the Venezia chocolate and pistachio gelato). Tall ceilings, breezy windows, elegant Murano glass lighting—it feels luxurious, but lived-in. Charming, yet deeply comfortable.

The small but dreamy balcony may be my favorite spot.

Coffee.
Quiet conversations.
Watching the city wake up.

A perfect Venetian moment.

☕ The Café You Shouldn’t Miss: Torrefazione Cannaregio

If you love cafés with charm and local spirit, this is a must-visit. Tracing back to 1930, Torrefazione Cannaregio is the only coffee roaster in Venice that operates its own café.

Expect:

✔ alternative milks (soy, almond, oat)
✔ tables overlooking the water
✔ a lively hum of neighbors saying buongiorno

My order?

Espresso with steamed almond milk, pistachio crème base, and cocoa dusting.

It’s a Venetian treat that feels indulgent and effortless at once.

💛 Signing Off From Venice

Time to wander through Cannaregio, greet locals with a cheerful buongiorno, and continue discovering tiny bites and scenic corners.

Sending you sunshine, aloha, warmth—and the heartiest ciao—from Venice, the floating city that never stops gifting beauty.
